BAC/EE Table Tennis Club started life within Dick Kerr Engineering Company in Preston, a major employer in the town. A time when companies had tables in the canteen for employees and the local league was made up of works teams, players also had to be employed by the company in order to be a member.
The Dick Kerr Company split into two companies to form, British Aircraft Corporation and English Electric Engineering Company. The English Electric teams are recorded in the league handbooks until 1970. Trophy wise English Electric ‘A’ team appears for the 1st time in 1957 as runners up in division 4 of the Preston & District Table Tennis League.

Representative teams reappeared in 1979 as British Aerospace until 1988; from then on they are recorded in the league handbooks as BAE and currently BAC/EE. During this period Springfield’s and Gryf players also signed on to play for the club under various guises.

BAC/EE currently has three teams registered in the Preston Table Tennis Association. Two teams in the Premier Division and one in Division Two. The A team have been runners up in the last two years (2006/7) of the Premier Division and also the Lancashire Evening Post Knockout Competition and currently doing well in 2008. The club at this moment has the distinction of having “Both the Men’s Open Singles and Doubles Champions of the Preston League 2007” as members. Both the B and C Teams are holding their own in the leagues and are mid table.

Please contact the club Table Tennis Secretary if you are interested in playing and require any more information.
